THE Tocal homestead at CB Alexander College will come alive next weekend when ghosts from its past tell tales for an audience of diners.
Called Tales From Tocal, this first dinner and show presented by the homestead may be the first of many. The homestead, which was established more than 150 years ago, was a historical site with many tales to tell, from its beginning to its growth into an agricultural college, said its manager, Sandy Earle."We'll be travelling from 1822, when James Webber established the farm, through to the present," Ms Earle said."The characters will be coming to the present and commenting on how much things have changed." Table groups of 10 will be chaperoned through the homestead and will encounter other visitors in different parts of the house. The evening's events will be stage-managed in groups rather than involve all 100 diners."One of the highlights will be Charles Alexander, after whom the college is named, tinkering in 1929 with his Rolls-Royce, and it will be the real Rolls-Royce," Ms Earle said. The 30-plus cast will be made up of college members and district performers, and the dinner will be locally catered.Money raised from the production will go to refurbishing and maintaining the homestead.Reservations can be made by phoning 4939 8901.
